The Guide Behind the Magic
Meet Mathias
An Italian who came for three months and never left — because Mexico had other plans.

A Story Written by the Sea & the Stones
In 2018, Mathias Cambiaso arrived on the shores of the Riviera Maya for what was supposed to be a three-month stint. The turquoise water, the ancient pyramids, the warmth of the people — they conspired against his return ticket.
He became an aquatic guide, swimming alongside sea turtles, free dolphins, and the majestic whale shark every summer. As a certified diver, winters brought encounters with bull sharks in the deep blue. Then came the archaeology courses — and everything changed. Now he doesn't just show you Chichen Itza. He reads it to you.
The Journey
Arrived in Mexico for "just three months" as a welcome host for Italian & French tourists at Catalonia Puerto Aventuras.
Fell in love with the culture and moved permanently. Became an aquatic guide — swimming with sea turtles, free dolphins, and whale sharks every summer.
As a certified diver, began swimming with bull sharks in winter. Took SECTUR's official archaeology courses to master Mayan history.
5+ years as a certified archaeological guide, 7+ years as an adventure guide. Fluent in Italian, English & Spanish.
Officially SECTUR Certified
Mexico's official tourism certification for archaeological guides
Intimate Small Groups
Maximum 14 people per van. No crowded buses, no rushing. Every guest gets personal attention and a front-row experience at every site.
Zero Hidden Fees
What you see is what you pay. No surprise "taxes" on the day of the tour, no detours to souvenir shops. Radical transparency from day one.
Deep Mayan Knowledge
Beyond the tourist script — Mathias holds university-level courses in Mayan archaeology and epigraphy. He reads the stones, not just the brochure.

"We did the Tulum & Akumal tour and swimming with sea turtles was a bucket-list moment. Mathia's knowledge of Mayan epigraphy at Tulum was mind-blowing — he literally translated the glyphs on the walls. Small group, honest price, incredible human. 10/10."
